Why These Schools?
The US has some of the most innovative schools in the world – and many of them are in California. We’re starting our tour in Silicon Valley, because it’s there that our knowledge-based future is being shaped. Some of the leading schools here are built upon the ideas and creativity that shaped companies like Google, Amazon, Apple and Facebook as well as disciplines like design thinking, blended and independent learning, and project-based learning. But our tour also takes in new models of schooling in Los Angeles and finishes in the outstanding High Tech High schools in San Diego.
Why This Trip?
We’ve formed strong associations with some of these schools, and our participants so far are drawn from inspirational schools in Australia, Europe, India and North America. So, the learning will be as much in the sharing of ideas from the participants, as it will in seeing great practice in the schools. We will also be 
hosting some intimate dinners with visionary educators. All of this will be led by David and Clare Price and arranged by Study Links Tours, of the UK – experts in educational travel tours.

2.00 pm Start: Welcome, introductions and overview of the study tour. Evening meal and meeting with whole group.
MONDAY 25th September : SAN JOSE
AM: Rocket Ship school, San Jose (TBC)
PM: KIPP School (TBC)
TUESDAY 26th September: SAN JOSE
All Day: Nueva School
WEDNESDAY 27th September: SAN FRANCISCO
AM: Alt-School – Yerba Buena Campus – Think Tank session with Colleen Broderick, Alt School
PM: Flight to Los Angeles
THURSDAY 28th September: LOS ANGELES
All Day: New Roads Academy, Santa Monica
Evening meal and reflection session with whole group (special guests)
FRIDAY 29th September: SAN DIEGO
Early morning transfer to San Diego
All Day: Ideate High Academy and Urban Discovery Academy, San Diego
SATURDAY 30th September: SAN DIEGO
Free day for sightseeing

AM: Final meeting, de-brief and presentations of learning

What is included?
Transport
All tour related coaches and trains, between September 24th – October 4th is included in the cost of the tour. Participants must make their own way to the hotel in San Jose on the afternoon of the September 24th, where the tour officially begins. (We will provide guidance on the train options from San Francisco to the hotel in San Jose)
Flights
Internal flights from San Francisco to Los Angeles and from San Diego to San Francisco are included in the cost of the tour. Participants must arrange and pay for their own flights to and from their home country to San Francisco.
Accommodation
Good quality (4 Star) hotels will be provided in each city.
Meals
Breakfast will be included at all hotels. Brown-bag or school lunches will be provided each day (apart from free days).Three evening dinners are included All other meals are at the participants’ own expense.
