DfE Cultural Education Programme

UK Department for Education Cultural Education Programme

We worked with the School Partnership Trust Academies (SPTA – 48 schools across the Yorkshire region) who were commissioned by the DfE to lead a ‘Cultural Education Programme’.  The expected outcomes are a range of teaching resources, guidance materials and case studies to support professional development for teachers and school staff, which highlight the value of the arts and promote closer working with the professional arts and cultural sector.

Clare coordinated the creation of the CPD materials, working closely with the Director and arts partners to ensure high quality resources are produced within the timeframe. In addition she has facilitated meetings with National Partners, provided advice and guidance on contracting and commissioning artists, and has created the framework for the final report to DfE.

Each of the ‘Teaching School Alliances’ who have been involved, including SPTA have delivered various creative projects with a range of schools in their networks. Additional CPD resources from these schools will be launched in June 2015 .

SPTA will also be creating new ‘Arts Focused’ web pages on their website and implementing an ‘Arts campaign’ and CPD programme across the SPTA schools for the forthcoming academic year.We will be working with the Director and SPTA team to further advise on these developments.
